SYNC Omnis 4.0 - Training Mode

The training mode allows users of the Sync Desk application to practice operations without affecting the reports.  


Enabling Training Mode


Open the Sync Desk application and log in with a valid user that has permission to enable training mode. Then click on the menu button and the following will be displayed:

Click on the Enable/Disable Training mode button.  Training mode is established when the Sync Desk background is red:

When training mode is disabled, the Sync Desk application’s color will be the color selected in the role for the user that is logged on.


Functions Available in Training Mode


  • Only Cash transactions will be allowed

Credit Card and Stored Value Card transactions are not allowed

  • The process of selling lanes is allowed, but the lanes themselves will not be issued or turned on
  • Training mode transactions will automatically be deleted when training mode is ended
  • Training mode transactions will also be removed during an end-shift and during nightly tasks
  • Ending a shift in training mode only ends the training mode shift and ends training mode.  End shift while in training mode has no effect on regular transactions.
  • Inactivity Log Out will operate while in training mode, which will end training mode
  • Printed and re-printed receipts will display a Training Mode header

  • The Sync Desk app receipt will display a training mode watermark:


Functions Not Available in Training Mode


  • All in One terminals will not print receipts for training transactions
  • Training orders will not be sent to Remote Order Printers
  • Combining tabs only works with other training mode transactions
  • Find will only display other training mode transactions
  • Stored Value Card transactions are not available while in Training Mode
  • Credit Card transactions are not available in Training Mode
  • Self-Service Kiosks do not have a training mode
  • Auto logoff at the end of a transaction is not available
  • League Payments are not available
  • Get Receipts is not available for resources or tables
  • Cash drawers will not open in Training Mode.
  • Access to the Reservation and Guest Management view panels

Ending Training Mode


To end Training mode, perform one or the other of the following options:

  • Log off the Sync Desk application
  • End the shift
