Sync Pay - Reopen Closed Tabs
Overview
With the release of Sync Omnis 4.0 Service Pack 1, customers with Sync Pay credit card processing now have the ability to reopen previously closed tabs.
This new functionality is NOT possible for centers with credit card processing systems other than Sync Pay.
Additionally, this functionality is NOT available for centers in regions or countries with certain regulatory requirements (i.e. centers with the Financial Regulatory Data Control and/or Quebec Counter Service Mode/Quebec Table Service Mode) features.
Re-Opening a Closed Tab
To follow this procedure, you must have the following permission(s) in Sync.
For additional guidance on permissions, see Managing Roles & Permissions in Sync.
- Point of Sale > General > Reopen Closed Tabs
-
Open
Sync Desk and log in.
-
Click Receipt/Total to expand the Receipt Menu.
-
Click Reopen Closed Tabs.
-
Click the transaction you want to reopen, then click Reopen Selected Receipt.
Sync Desk will re-open and display the receipt for this transaction. You can add or remove line items, including discounts or products in the re-opened transaction.
It should be noted that at this point, no changes have been made to the authorization to the customer's card.
If the transaction is modified, there are two transaction processes that can occur:
Closing the Modified Transaction - Negative Total
If the transaction has had any discounts or line items voided, than the total amount owed may now show a negative balance.
In this example, we've voided the Hunter Style Sandwiches that were on the transaction, therefore the balance owed is now ($10.57).
This will reduce the authorization made to the customer's card to the new total of the transaction.
The alternate route to achieve the same objective would be to select line item in the transaction with the validated card amount and then the void button.
Closing the Modified Transaction - Positive Total
If the transaction has had any surcharges or line items added, than the total amount owed will show a positive balance due as the total of the transaction has increased.
In this example, an additional Hunter Style Sandwich has been added to the transaction, therefore the balance owed is now $5.29.
