Sync Pay Features
- OrderNow Pay at the Lane - Using Sync Pay, bowlers can now pay for F&B ordered at the bowling lane.
- Multi-Channel Payments - Centers will no longer need to reconcile separate E-Commerce and Card-Present sales reports. Sync Pay provides both ECOM and Card-Present solutions.
- End to End Reconciliation - Payments from Sync to the processing platform to your bank are visible from one location. No more comparing reports or building tools to ensure you get paid.
- Real-Time Processing - End-to-end processing in real-time reduces risk. No more wondering if staff closed batches or software settings are correct. The Sync Pay platform ensures real-time payments.
- Real-Time Authorization - Instead of checking whether a card is valid, Sync continually checks for card funds for the entire tab as your guest adds to it. This reduces the chance of fraud or mistakes by a guest.
- Surcharging - Pass credit card processing costs onto customers.
- Tab Optimization - With Sync Pay, tabs and gratuities can be adjusted without incurring additional transaction fees or card fees that are not present.
- Accepted Cards - Visa, Mastercard, Credit & Debit and Amex.
How Sync Pay Works
Sync Pay introduces a simplified method of payment for credit card transactions. The overall payments flow is similar to processes used today in Sync centers.
Although there are multiple paths to complete a transaction with Sync Pay, all transactions will fall under two categories: Terminal Payments and QR Pay.
Terminal Payments
Terminal Payments – This is the process flow for sale transactions completed through a Sync Terminal, Service Kiosk, or Mobile Point of Sale tablet.
- Sync Transaction – The transaction is set to Pay Now at a terminal.
- Sync Pay pinpad – The Sync Pay pinpad will accept the transaction amount from Sync. Customer will Tap/Dip/Swipe their card on the pinpad.
- Payment processed through Adyen – Sync Pay terminal will request confirmation from Adyen (payments platform) that transaction has been completed.
- Funds deposited in to bank account – The center’s bank account will have the funds deposited in to the bank account, minus interchange and fees.
- Processing reporting available through Payments site – All reporting about Sync Pay processing is available through payments.brunswickcloud.com. See the section on Reporting & Reconciliation for more details.
Additional Notes:
- Manually keyed entry is supported with Sync Pay and operates the same within Sync Desk as it did previously. Manually keyed entry is subject to higher processing interchange and fees given the higher risk of processing.
QR Pay
QR Pay – Using Sync Pay, bowlers can now pay for F&B ordered at the bowling lane. OrderNow will now display a QR code after guests have selected their menu items, requiring the guest to pay for the food before the food order is submitted. This process requires the guest to complete the transaction using their mobile device.
- OrderNow Transaction at the lane – Once the guests have selected their menu items, a QR Code displays, requiring the guest to pay for the food before the food order is submitted. Gratuities or service fees can be configured within Sync to be added to the transaction.
- Customer pays with their phone – The guest will scan the QR Code on the lane tablet with their mobile device using their standard Camera app. This will send the guest within a web browser on their phone to a Sync Pay secure website. The guest will enter their card number and details into the secure website.
- Payment processed through Adyen – Once the payment has been processed, the guest will see a completion screen on their mobile device as well as on the Sync tablet. The Sync system inside the center will continue to check with Sync Pay to verify the transaction has been paid. Once Sync has been given confirmation, the transaction is completed and food orders print out as configured within Sync (ROPs, Order Management screen, etc).
- Funds deposited in to bank account – The center’s bank account will have the funds deposited into the bank account, minus interchange and fees. See the section on Receiving Processed Funds in a Bank Account for more information.
- Processing reporting available through Payments site – All reporting about Sync Pay processing is available through payments.brunswickcloud.com. See the section on Reporting & Reconciliation for more details.
- Additional Notes:
- Surcharging is not allowed on QR Pay. Surcharging requires the confirmation of the card type (debit or credit) as debit cards cannot be surcharged. As there is no ability to confirm the card type locally (like the Terminal payments), surcharging cannot be used with QR Pay. It is suggested to implement a Service Fee if surcharging is desired on these transactions.
