SYNC Desk - Sync Training Mode

Overview

This new feature allows you to practice and familiarize yourself with day-to-day Sync Desk operations without affecting sales and reporting.

REQUIRED PERMISSIONS

In order to enable and use the Sync Training Mode feature, you must have the following permission(s) in Sync. For additional guidance on permissions, see https://support.bowlingvision.com/article/274-managing-roles-permissions-in-sync

  • Point of Sale > General > Can Change Training Mode

Enable Training Mode

Enabling Training Mode in Sync Desk is easy. Follow the step-by-step directions provided below.

  1. Open the  Sync Desk application and log in.
  2. From any view panel, click/tap on the MENU button.
  3. From the expanded menu, click on the ENABLE/DISABLE TRAINING MODE  button.

When Training Mode is enabled, Sync Desk transforms and a few things with the interface have changed.

  • The accent colour of Sync Desk changes to RED.

  • When visible, the Sync Desk application receipt has a "Training Mode" watermark.

Available Functions in Training Mode

  • Cash Payments. Only cash transactions can be completed; credit card and stored value payment types are not allowed.

  • Combining Tabs*. Sync Desk will allow you to combine tabs for transactions made in training mode; but you cannot combine tabs for transactions made inside and outside of training mode.
  • End Shift. End Shift can be run in training mode. When completed, training mode will be disabled afterwards. Ending a shift in training mode does NOT affect shifts / transactions completed outside of training mode.
  • Find (Transaction)*. Only other training mode transactions will be displayed.
  • Lane Sales. Lanes can be sold, but they are NOT issued or turned on.
  • Receipt Printing*. Transaction receipts can be printed/re-printed from Sync Desk (for some POS terminal types). Printed receipts will display *****TRAINING MODE***** in the header.

Unavailable Functions in Training Mode

  • Auto Logoff. If "Auto Logoff" is enabled in Terminal settings; it is ignored by training mode.
  • Cash Drawers. Cash drawer peripherals will not open in training mode.
  • Credit Card / Stored Value Payments. Only cash payments can be used in training mode.
  • Get Receipts. Cannot be used with resource or tables.
  • Guest Management / Reservation view panels.
  • League Payments.
  • Printing of Food / Drink Orders. A transaction CAN include food and beverages; but the order ticket will not be sent to any Remote Order Printer (ROP).
  • Receipt Printing*. All-In-One (AIO) Terminals will not print receipts for training transactions by default.
  • Self-Service Kiosks. SSKs do not have a training mode feature.

Disable Training Mode

You can disable the Training Mode function at any time by doing one of the following:

  • Automatic Logoff. If no activity occurs on the terminal after the time specified by Inactivity Timeout in terminal settings, Desk will log out automatically and training mode will end.
  • Log out of Sync Desk. From any view panel, click on the Log Out button at the bottom right corner of the Sync Desk application.
  • End the current shift. From any view panel where the receipt is visible, click on the Total button to expand the Receipt menu and then click End Shift User or End Shift Terminal (as appropriate). For more information on End Shift, see <Ending a Shift>.

When training mode is disabled, any transactions made will be deleted automatically. If training mode is enabled when Nightly Tasks is ran by the system, these transactions will also be deleted.
