Replacing a Sync S5/S6 Lane Tablet
Tools Needed
- Phillips Head Screwdriver (M5)
WARNING
Before servicing the lane tablet, remove power to prevent injury to yourself or others, and damage to any electronics.
Locate the Sync Lower Power Supply for the lane or lane pair that needs the tablet serviced.
It is typically installed on the curtain wall in front of the pinsetter(s).
Remove the power cable that provides power to the Sync Lower Power Supply.
Note that if a Sync Peripheral Controller is installed, the lower power supply has (2) power cables connected to it.
You only need to remove the cable that connects the power supply to AC power.
Removing the Lane Table
- Using a Phillips M5 screwdriver, remove the 4 screws located on the back of the tablet mount.
- Carefully lift the tablet away from the assembly, but do NOT take it out.
Tip
You may be able to carefully use a prying tool to lift the upper lip of the tablet OR the screwdriver to push it slightly out from the assembly.
Note the 2 cables that are plugged into the tablet from behind.
Carefully lift up the Power cable from the connector, then carefully remove the Network (Ethernet) cable from the connector by pressing the tab.
- Remove the tablet from the assembly.
Position the replacement tablet, and reconnect both the Power and Network cables.
Then carefully slide the tablet back into the assembly.
- Once the tablet has been re-installed, go back to the Sync Lower Power Supply and reconnect the power cable.
- Check the tablet to verify it is powered on. If so, re-insert the 4 screws into the back of the tablet assembly, then screw them back in to secure the tablet.
